Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute is a university with its

main campus in the city of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was founded by A.C. Shanmugam under the Kannamal Educational Trust. Dr. M.G.R. Engineering College and Thai Moogambigai Dental College were established in 1987 and 1991. These two colleges were made into costitute colleges of Dr. M.G.R Educational and Research Institute University, by th Ministry of Human Resource Developement and the University Grand Commission.
